Recent Project :: Photo Restoration

Recently, I was assigned a task to restore an old photo, shrunk it a bit and frame it. The old photo was just wrapped with a transparent plastic, thus the photo was damaged.

After unwrapping the photo from the old base, the piicture was too big for my scanner so I crop-scanned from all the four corners and use the Photomerge script in Photoshop so I get this. The picture was quite damaged with a lot of stains and dirt on it.

After the a lot of repair and touching up, it end up with this.

This is what I've got after editing. The dull color is remained.

Alternatively, I turned it to a black and white photo with extra black concentration. It looks very much more brilliant and the customer had chosen this for the framing work.

So the above is how the lamination was done. Even using the thick photo paper, the matte lamination was done real nicely. I was expecting an unsmooth lamition edge at the edge of the photo but they have done very well. It comes with a price, 4 times higher than the price that I used to do.

You may hardly differentiate between the wood border and the black mounting board that has become the background of the frame content. Very nice. I like this very much!

Some more perspective if the frame.

A brilliant final product!

Gambar Kesayangan Hamba

This is my assignment to capture the image of Gunung Panti and Waterfall of Kota Tinggi, to be framed into a reasonable size and to besubmitted to Jabatan Perhutanan as a souvenier to the Menteri Besar and Pengarah.

After a few times of 'climbing' up and down their office, they have then decided....

******

What is so special about Gunung Panti? If you check out the above picture clearly, you will find out that somekind of chin (dagu) was formed at the top of that hill.

It does look like a damn big nipple to me.

My very initial intention was to capture this mountain/hill with the lighting of around 4.00-5.30 PM as the lighting was expected to be yellowish and mild, enough to light every inch of the picture that I'm going to capture. The sunset will face the hill from my side of capturing this photo.

When I arrived there at 2.30PM, the weather was bright but hrash thus the result was not as I desired. Rain poured all over me (thank god I managed to save all my gadgets) at around 3.45 and I waited, waited, waited and prayed so that the raining will stop soon.

At around 5.40PM, I was about to give up as I started to engine, the rain stopped and I happened to be able to capture this not so nice but very rare picture...

This very rare view of Gunung Panti of Kota Tinggi, Johor was captured after I've waited for almost 3.5 hours from 2.30PM to 6.00PM. Submitted.

Captured on November 16, 2006 at 6.05PM, ISO-100, F/32, 1.3s and 50mm focal length.

This picture of waterfall was captured on a bright daylight but wet! Submitted.

ISO-100, F/22, 1/5s, 25mm focal length

All image was polarized using a CPL.

Polarizer.

These two shots were taken with and without polariser. Pardon the sharpness as it was really hard to keep up with the speed pace of those red ants!

This shot, which was taken without the polarizer has obviously captured the reflection of the lights on that wooden plank. I was facing the light and the color was as eaxctly as how it is supposed to be, boring and dull.

Same shot, taken with a Circular Polarizer on. The reflection of the light on the wooden plank has been eliminated, even not completely. The color has been more vivid and nicer.

Wondering why the butt are sharper than the head?

Yeah I like the butt more than the head :p..

My bad.. my bad...

Macro + Sillhouette (Gunung Panti)

I went to Gunung Panti, Kota Tinggi last Thursday for an assignment with the Forest Department. They took me into the jungle and surprisingly, inside the jungle, they plant with Oil Palm. Very the Magic.

I was supposed to capture the scenery of Gunung Panti. As I end up going into the jungle with them, time to bend and shoot!

Anyway, I tried a few things inside, especially macro. But this time, it's kind of more challenging as it was very rainy and windy. I tried my very best to capture them as they were like waving to me,

"Snap me if you can...!"

I have no idea what the hell was this fruit named. This is among 10-12 unsuccessful shots.

In a very low light, I found the same thing I found during my last visit to Gunung Panti. The wind was blowing from left and right and too bad, this is the best shot i can get. Looks like a bunch of fruits eh. hehe.

I took out the last visit's shot just to add on this entry. I've edited the JPEG file using the Camera Raw facility in CS3 to produce a better rendition of the colors. Looks much better isn't it?

This is a spider web. Taken direct to the sky light unabling me to capture the web. A slight tilt to the leaves of the trees enabled me to snap the prey on the web nicely!

It's been a while..

Yeah. I've not been updating since September 11th. For almost 2 moths, i've been so busy with a lot of things.

A lot of recent project and one of them is 'Raya with Nurul & Sofea'. It was a fun project and it inspire me to catch on more techniques on both capturing the moment and post-editing.

Multiphoto look from just one photo using smart object in Photoshop CS3.

Nothing much here except for the vignette effect using the camera RAW. You can even use JPEG with camera raw.

The technique of blemish removal.

What do u think?

AE07 Portraitures during and after.

Aren't both of them gorgeous? I love this picture the most of all.

;iso-400, F/2.8, 1/20s, 50mm, Aperture Priority

This is a paparazi picture. It's really hard to get to her so that's why the zoom lense is very important.

;iso-1600, F/6.3, 1/50s, 200mm, Aperture Priority

Look at her, she's so slim now OMG. What has she done to herself. She's so pretty. I'm falling with her. Really. Worth keeping her pictures. The skin is so nice also. I feel like grabbing and kiss her there and then. So cute.

;iso-1600, F/5, 1/50s, 40mm, Manual

A sudirman look-a-like hero. He seems to be short but not so short lah. Nice person. Very quiet indeed.

;iso-1600, F/4.5, 1/50s, 33mm, Manual

Ella after the post party. Ada braces la. I really think that video is her la.. Hahahahaha..

;iso-800, F/2.8, 1/15s, 50mm, Aperture Priority

AE07 Portraitures @ The Green Carpet

My superbig hero, Afdlin Shauki. Amazingly he still recognized me when he saw me from the back. Kewl hero uh?

;iso-400, F/2.8, 1/60s, 50mm, Aperture Priority

She's so stunning in that green outfit. She's younger, but everyone treats her like a majesty. Jealous seh...

;iso-400, F/2.8, 1/60s, 45mm, Aperture Priority

The Legendary Jamal. I wonder what's behind the rayban. Very hard to be taken pictures. Not so cooperative. Maybe he's a camera shy.

;iso-400, F/4.5, 1/25s, 28mm, Aperture Priority

I don't really know who this girl, but i think she's freakingly gorgeous. Worth my vote as the nicest outfit of the night.

;iso-400, F/2.8, 1/50s, 50mm, Aperture Priority

She's actually a very nice person. She's okay if we say hi to her compared to Siti. She's very cooperative whenever I want to take her picture. Her Balinese mixed concept of outfit is outrageously amazing! I love her outfit. It reminds me of Bali.

Engagement :: Raden Ayu

Another photo collage of Ayu. Yeah I had two people with the name Ayu, engaged this year! It was a big day and a big engagement event to. 11 vs 13 hantarans, can u imagine?

Ayu while getting ready with the make up and the jewelleries.

Keeping in touch with the otherside family before arrival.

As the otherside arrived and all the terms being agreed, Ayu came out for the ring.

Lovely ring on a lovely hand.

Congratulations to her and thanks to her mom for the good food.
