Wedding at Tanjung Pinang, Indonesia

It was the wedding of Ike and Dody. I went there as a relative, but I'm not gonna miss out photoshooting this colourful Malay Wedding.

Tanjung Pinang is within the Riau Island, of which the origin of the early Johor-Riau monarchy ruling a very long time ago. So it is not something new that maybe most of Malays have relatives in around Riau Island or KEPRI (Kepulauan Riau), as the indonesians live with shortforms!

In this picture, I'm taking a close shot of IKE, the bride, of whom is in the process of berinai. Like most of the local Malaysian Malay Wedding, applying henna is done prior to the wedding, and without the knowledge of anyone but the berinai event is done after the solemnization.

In Tanjung Pinang, berinai is actually the function of applying the henna and is done in front of everyone. They even have dance and the bride will have to lay down on a matress until the henna is fully dried off.

The next morning, the solemnization of the bride and groom is successfully carried out by only a single attempt. For some people, it's really a big deal, and so does them.

The above picture was taken using a simple CLS technique, as the surrounding was a lil bit dark and it's merely just a simple lighting technique.

Another CLS technique product. All the CLS was by assistance of my cousin, Hafizh who followed me there. It happened that certain tools was not taken with me and Hafizh had to hold the white brolly and the flash.

In this picture, it happens that the assigned photographer, Reno from Tg. Pinang brought his backdrop and I decided to do the CLS with the backdrop

Reno, a very nice guy with the D70s with his videographer.

The Wedding of Efdza's.... Sister

When I first received the wedding invitation card, I was shocked as Efdza's name was written clearly there. I thought he's the one whose gonna get married. Actually, he was inviting, together with her mom. It was the wedding of his younger sister, Farrah. So on that 15 July, I went there, with my camera, intending to snap whatever picture that I possibly could.

As a good friend (one of the best in fact), I'd like to give those pictures I took as the wedding present for the sister. There's another photographer who kept asking me why am I there. As I told him I'm doing this for free he was shocked and everytime he glanced at my pictures, he will just smile or laughed slowly while rubbing his hand on my back. I didn't really get it but who cares.

This is actually my first attempt doing a studio-like picture. A picture with black background and the background was replaced with a scenery picture. Looked very amateur though but experimental techniques will always come with free stuffs don't you think?

Tasha & Rudi Wedding (1-2 June 2006)

Once I met with Rudi, I know he's gonna take a good care of her. He's so nice at heart, even though he's a bit clumsy, I feel very comfortable having him around.

This is my first wedding project and I know it's nothing much compared to those who have been there.

It's a love story that is hard for me to understand, I mean love itself, but I'm really happy to see people in love. God bless!
