Maulidur Rasul
It's been a while being without a camera. That day, there was an announcement over the Surau's speaker mentioning about a parade in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul.
I quickly decided to snap some photos through out the parade spontaneously. As this is the first time ever the Surau's committee organizing such event.
It was quite a shiny day and wearing Baju Melayu making the heat was pretty unbearable.
Well, IMHO this is the best shot of the day. The rest of the shots can be viewed in my Flickr.

Judging the MTC photo contest
I am glad that finally the whole judging process was over. It was way off the easy path. I would not say every submission was good but the really good ones were really good.
I hope there would more and more of this kind of competition. I was not only appreciating the beauty of these photos, but the value it brings to the mass. Even though it looks like we were restricted by the policies but that was the best decision ever met; in order to abide the policy and to appreciate what was supposed to be appreciated.
Photo I love most was the bird feeding the baby birds. Birds - OK, feeding them - was still OK, but while the mother bird fed the first baby bird and the second baby bird look at them like that; that was a moment with emotion.
Maybe you can have a look at it at this link. For me it was the best ever photo I've ever judged.

EDM Project :: MBSB Photoshoot
Got a call from Martin @ EDM to shoot for MBSB's book. This is one of MBSB's advertisement that's being used in the book. The background of UMNO building became side object of the subject.
I walked almost a kilometer to get this shot. Luckily there's a place to park my car. Shooting alone is not easy :)

Nikonian CLS Class, 20 April 2008
Again, with only one female participant, it would not have been successful without the enthusiasm of the participants (of course when there's a girl model). Mostly professionals, include photographers for Akademi Fantasia and a lawyer, it was lot of fun, fun and fun!Conducted at Sri Malaysia Johor Bahru, we've been the center of attraction as there were other tenants doing their seminars and courses. For a while, people were surrounding us, watching what were we doing in the middle of the walkway in the hotel park.
Look at how passionate they are when photoshooting the model. They do took good shots too!
One of my favourite. Shot by Zaidi. Look at the green background created using gel with CLS. The crossing shadow creates a great impact!
Here comes the portraiture. Enough tilt, simple pose and make use of the CLS settings to turn the bright background into a backdrop. Shot by Zamri Md Zan.
Magic! Everybody pressed the shutter and the flash fired at once!

Nikonian Beginner to Intermediate Class, 13 April 2008
Even though some of the participants are also those who have been in the scene for quite sometimes, I believe they are here to refresh themselves of the fundamentals, and DIG up our secrets, at NIKONIAN.
So that's why we are here! Providing classes and share out tips and tricks in photography.
The class ends at about 6 PM after a busy Q&A session with the participants!

Wedding at Tanjung Pinang, Indonesia
Tanjung Pinang is within the Riau Island, of which the origin of the early Johor-Riau monarchy ruling a very long time ago. So it is not something new that maybe most of Malays have relatives in around Riau Island or KEPRI (Kepulauan Riau), as the indonesians live with shortforms!
In this picture, I'm taking a close shot of IKE, the bride, of whom is in the process of berinai. Like most of the local Malaysian Malay Wedding, applying henna is done prior to the wedding, and without the knowledge of anyone but the berinai event is done after the solemnization.
In Tanjung Pinang, berinai is actually the function of applying the henna and is done in front of everyone. They even have dance and the bride will have to lay down on a matress until the henna is fully dried off.
The above picture was taken using a simple CLS technique, as the surrounding was a lil bit dark and it's merely just a simple lighting technique.
In this picture, it happens that the assigned photographer, Reno from Tg. Pinang brought his backdrop and I decided to do the CLS with the backdrop

Space Photography Class in KL
There's another SPACE class on photography last week, from 27-29 February 2008. It was held at the Crown Princess hotel in Ampang, KL.
The participants are friendly. There is even a photographer with more than 20 years experience on camera.
Below are some snapshots of the class.
Using CLS! From left Yazrul, Azimah, James Bond (Fazli, an ex-Bernama), Rusdi and Maq.
Another CLS! Noorsham with Aziz, a D70 user.
Who did Noorsham pointing to? Me?
Taken with my 70-200 2.8L lens. This was taken during the discussion during the Photoshop class. From left, Zul, Sabri (30 years of experience), Annuar (hidden in red) and of course Aziz again.
Tell you. The class with the most number of Model. 3 models and a make up artists!

Aqiqah :: My Nephew - AFI
Afi.. Sibuk aje tangan dia nak capai the camera.
This sweet little girl is just 5 years old. Siti Nurhaliza is not her name, but people called her Siti. She's so talkative. I used to fell asleep after being tired answering all her questions.
Smile! Eh he's laughing!
Cuaca sangat panas dan sebagai budak kecik, saya berhak berlengging di khalayak ramai.* Pardon my Bahasa Melayu :p

Pictures from the Underwater World (SG)
Panning! Under the low light.
I don't know what the hell this was, which was shot using Macro technique.
Can you see the ketam? Cannot? Then you must be anak luar nikah :p hehehe.
Nemo nemo! So cute. After that Finding Nemo cartoon, I think Nemo is more to be found all over the coral nowadays. Other wise we would never notice of their existance.
The Jellyfish, and remember, Nemo are immune of these magical transparent creatures.(More to come)
